Customer Service Info

Are there tryouts for the Glen Rock Soccer Club?
No. All children who are residents of Glen Rock or students at a school located in Glen Rock are eligible.

Why are there deadlines for registration? Might my child not be placed on a team?
For divisions 7,6 and clinics (Grades 2,1, K) there is no deadline for registration because all games are played in town. For all other age groups the deadline is June 15th. The reason being the GRSC is required by our league to submit the number of teams we are going to register for the coming season by July 1st of that year, and we need time to plan and arrange the teams in time to meet the July 1st deadline. All teams have a minimum and maximum number of players we can register. We cannot assume registrations after the June15h date and will not add an extra team unless each team in the division has enough to play. This may cause some children to be placed on a wait list, but the board believes that is preferable to a team playing shorthanded throughout the season because we added a team and the late registrations did not come about.

Do I need to provide a photo?
Yes. Please go to www.glenrocksports.org. Login using your existing username and password. Players and coaches in Division 2, 3 (Boys and Girls) ,4 (Boys and Girls) and 5 Boys must have a passport style photo uploaded to their CommunityPass profile. You will find instructions on how to upload photos on the Select Programs page as you step through the registration process. Please see the Registration Page for more information.

When are practices?
Teams in Divisions 2,3,4 are scheduled for two practices each week along with their games on the weekend. Teams in Division 5 practice once per week and play games on the weekend. Players in Division 6, 7 and Clinics do not have weekly practices. Please see the Game & Practice Schedule page for more information.

When are games?
For games in the NWBSA, Division 3 and 4, girls play at either 9am or 11am on Saturday mornings. Division 2 (co-ed), along with Div 3, 4 and 5 boys play on Sunday afternoons at either 1pm or 3pm. Division 5 girls play between 9:30 and 11am, Division 6 & 7 Girls play between 11:30am and 1pm on Saturdays. The Coed Kindergarten Clinic will be on Saturdays from 1:30pm - 2:45pm or 3:00pm - 4:15pm. Division 7 Boys play from 12pm-1:30pm on Sunday, Division 6 Boys play from 1:30pm to 3pm on Sundays. The Pre-K Clinic will be Saturday Mornings from 8:30am-9:30am and 10-11am.

When does the season begin?
Generally, the first games will be the weekend following Labor Day. Pre-K Clinic runs for 8 weeks. Kindergarten Clinic, and Divisions 7, 6, and 5 girls run for 10 weeks but may end sooner depending on weather conditions. During the Fall NWBSA teams conclude the weekend before Thanksgiving. Please select a team within the schedule for full dates and times.

Is there a conflict with "select" club games?
There are no conflicts between Glen Rock Soccer Club games and regularly schedules games for the Glen Rock Shooting Stars.

How much playing time will my child get in a game?
By rule, all children on teams in the GRSC play at least 1/2 of every game.

Are children required to wear "safety glasses"?
According to the State of New Jersey "Any child who wears corrective eyeglasses while participating in ...Soccer, .... sponsored by a school, community or government agency, shall be required to wear protective eyewear that meets the frames standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F803 and lens standards of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z87.1." Click here for more information

Do I need to have special shorts?
Black shorts are required for anyone in divisions 5,4,3 or 2. For shorts and other soccer equipment needs, The GRSC recommends our friends at the Soccer Post in Franklin Lakes.

Can my child be on a team with his/her friends/classmates?
The Club feels that part of the GRSC experience includes being able to meet and make friends with children from other schools. We prefer not to receive requests for specific teammates and may not be able to honor the requests that do come in.

How do I volunteer?
Volunteers are always needed!

I would like to help coach. Do I need experience?
No. The Glen Rock Soccer Club is committed to improving the soccer knowledge of not only our players, but of our volunteer parent coaches as well. Indoor and outdoor classes and training are held throughout the year. In addition, our resources page has links to coaching organizations and websites that will help our volunteers grow their knowledge of the beautiful game.

Do I need to be Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. certified to coach or help coach?
Yes, all coaches and assistant coaches are required to have their Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Training. This is a one time only class that allows volunteers to be protected under the "Little League Law" in New Jersey.

How do I get the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Certification?
The Glen Rock Soccer Club on occasion will host a class, and other classes are held throughout the state. Please check with the Youth Sports Research Council for more information. Please also check our current events page for information on classes held by the GRSC.

Do I need to take a concussion class?
Yes - The Glen Rock Board of Education requires all coaches and trainers working on school fields to have training on concussions.

How do I take the concussion class?
If you have taken the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. class after July 1st, 2011, the concussion training was part of that class. For all others, please visit the CDC's "Heads Up. Concussion in Youth Sports" training. Please print out the certificate at the end of the course and submit to the GRSC.

Do I need to have a background check to coach?
Yes - The Borough of Glen Rock requires a background check for all adult volunteers who work with children. Please see our resources page for more information and for the application.

If my child withdraws, can we get a refund?
The GRSC will not refund registration fees for any withdrawals after June 15th, 2017. Prior to June 15th , a service charge will be deducted to cover processing the refund.
